Overview
Mark Vidler (born London 1954)
I was educated at Woolverstone Hall in Suffolk and went on to study art at Hornsey Art College. I then studied Photographic Art at the Central London Polytechnic (including a fascinating course on Semiology under Victor Burgin) and finally studied Fine Art at Corsham, Bath Academy of Art.
My first success was hanging in the RA Summer Exhibition (1974), followed by a mural commission for Hammersmith Hospital (1975). I have subsequently had studios in London, Bath, Nice, Lisieux, Austin Texas and Charlottesville VA, showing and selling work in various venues. My studio is now near Malmesbury Wiltshire, my last one man show was in Bath at Bath Fine Art. I’m a figurative/expressionist painter working in mixed media, mainly oil paint and metal leaf.
